Bringing Calm To The Surgical Journey Through Medical Reiki

Dr. Sheldon Feldman, Chief, Division of Breast Surgery & Breast Surgical Oncology and his team at Montefiore Einstien Comprehensive Cancer Center are breaking ground once more with a randomized clinical study comparing Reiki with sham Reiki.

By monitoring the patients’ responses, stress and cortisol levels, their researchers look forward to scientifically proving Reiki’s effectiveness. They understand the power and magnitude of providing integrative therapy to reduce stress and anxiety involving invasive surgery. It provides an overall better experience for the surgical team and patients.

Dr. Feldman in past cases noticed that patients who received Reiki before and after breast cancer surgery seemed calmer and experienced less pain.

These observations have slowly and surely continued to bridge the gap between traditional and non-traditional medicine.

Medical Reiki: A Closer Look At Cancer Cell Growth

CRR Director Patricia Deleon (center), an associate professor of Biology and Nutrition at Borough of Manhattan Community College, is making waves by studying the effects of Reiki on human cancer-cell growth.

Her study aims to determine whether repeated Reiki exposure produces sustained and reproducible effects on cancer-cell growth. Her first three rounds of experiments exposed breast cancer cells to Reiki and sham Reiki. Results consistently showed less cellular growth in Reiki-treated cells than in controls.

At one 15-minute session per day for three days, Reiki and sham Reiki produced similar effects. However, with two 15-minute sessions per day for three days, a difference emerged between the Reiki and placebo groups.

She is currently conducting a round two study. Her dedication to the field will continue making an impact in the medical community and beyond.

Shanea Lattimore

As the founder of Lamorei LLC, my approach combines professional education and intuitive insight. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Corporate Communications and Business Administration, along with Usui Reiki Master certifications in the Integrative Healing Arts program from Bucks County Community College. My professional training also includes International Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM), International Certified Death Doula (CEOLS), Sekhem-Seichim Reiki Master (SSRM), and Animal Reiki Master (ICRT).

Whether we meet in a clinical, business or private environment, with me, it’s all about you. I believe that the body, mind, and soul are always seeking healing. My role is to create a supportive environment focused on providing personalized and compassionate integrative wellness services.

From patients and caregivers to healthcare professionals, families, pets, and private clients, my intention is to meet all with presence and respect.
